the finalists

this one is great but maybe just a little too dark:

This one looks great in person. Looks like a rough silk. And it's a little more festive / less formal:
hurley_plum

will look nice with the flowers:

reasonable bouquet options

not necessarily in these colors...

I found some great chartreuse roses that I could use to make one like this:

and some cymbidium orchids like this:
cymbidium
but made into a bouquet like this:

or Dahlias and roses mixed together into something like this:

DIY flower techniques

"A lot of people who enjoy eating Sushi wonder, "Why must it be so expensive? It’s only raw fish!" What does Sushi have to do with DIY Fresh Flowers? Simple, one factor that drives up the cost of Sushi or in the case of wedding flowers is "labor". Most of us will never be a great Sushi chef or a five star floral designer....but have the ability to follow easy instructions and enjoy working with flowers or have friends and family to assit."

writing our ceremony and vows

So I ordered a couple books that were recommended to me by a recently married co-worker:
A Wedding Ceremony to Remember: Perfect Words for the Perfect Wedding
Weddings from the Heart: Contemporary and Traditional Ceremonies for an Unforgettable Wedding

Sunday we're going to get this thing written. For the first time in my life I kinda wish we were religious so this would already be done :) I flipped through both books and they seem good., sweet but not cheesy. It's a fine line.

I don't love the colors and I don't love the rainbows... but I love that each table is a different color. We've got these colors to choose from.

boutonnieres (aka boy flowers)

boutonnieres
The boutonniere is worn on the gentleman’s left lapel. It should be worn on the outside of the buttonhole, and not in it. It is traditional to secure it in place by using a pearl-headed pin from the back of the lapel. This can be done in such a way that the pin will then be invisible from the front.
